With a career that has spanned over 35 years, Jim Allred is unique in that he has worked with major material handling and supply chain logistics companies on three continents. He has held senior executive positions with the North American affiliate of Daifuku, Co. Ltd. of Japan, Schindler - Digitron of Switzerland (now part of Swisslog) and U.S.- based Eaton - Kenway (now HK Systems).
From 1985 to 1989 Allred served as Intel’s director of factory automation. He developed and implemented a strategic automation plan for Intel’s 19 manufacturing facilities worldwide. His vision provided the foundation for Intel’s ongoing drive to meet growing demand for personal computers.
The move from traditional manufacturing and distribution to the high technology world of clean room fabs provided Allred with the opportunity to adapt technology and processes perfected in one industry to other vertical markets. Consequently, he developed a keen foresight that enables him to see beyond a technology to the logistics problem it solves, no matter what the application or industry segment.
Having launched several software companies, Allred is equally skilled in the development and application of material handling logistics software as he is the design, engineering and implementation of advanced technology equipment and systems.
His insights have been widely published in Fortune, Industry Week, Business Week, and leading industry publications. Allred’s diverse experience provides a global perspective on material handling and supply chain logistics and their dynamic impact on business. He
has also gained valuable experience in how to successfully start up and grow high tech companies.
He is now available to share that experience as a board member or executive consultant.
